First thing to note is that I've never done a Anthropomorphism, let alone a furry character design so this was going to be an interesting challenge from the start
These are compilation of sketches exploring from the facial features of squirrels to the character as a whole with the aviator gears. (Amelia Earhart references used)
Also included is a sketch of the Lockheed Electra 10E, the twin engine plane that Amelia Earhart was last seen in.
 
My first thoughts after the first round of sketches was to work on the head shapes more becuase it would have a more cannine look instead of a rodent.

After a couple more practices, these are sketches of Amelia Squirrelhart's head in 2 angles.
Each head angle would 3 variations of aviation gear including the aerial goggles and leather headwear

The color choice for the clothing and the squirrel were all based off references and accounts of Ameila Earhart.
 
For the background, I've used a 1920 world map with Amelia Earhart's final flightpath drawn out.
